Ceiling and bench
The back part of the ceiling was missing, I think they had tore it out to fix the rotted wood around the vents. Once that was replaced, I put insulation in and used a panel I bought at Marvin's. I am not sure what it was called, but it was almost like a thick cardboard, but not luan. It worked great for this, was light and easy to cut with my jigsaw, and I put it in by myself using screws and staples.
For the seams, I used trim I had salvaged out of another damaged camper (sensing a recurring theme here?). The different colors did not matter, since I will be painting all this white.
I just do not have many pictures of the ceiling, it was a hot, annoying day and I was not thinking of taking photos. To staple that in, I had to stand in a half crouch, head hung over sideways with sweat rolling into my ears pose. The kids had also come along to help, and my son asked me about 5 times in a row "What's the hinge do, Mama?" and I was losing my temper fast. Now when he gets on a question like a stuck record, I ask him "What's the hinge do?".
Speaking of, this is what he was referring to:
I just put simple hinges on the plywood to be able to lift them up and access the storage underneath. I used my hole saw to make a finger hole on the top to pull it up.
I plan on storing the BBQ grill and jacks and hose and other assorted outside dirty things in this area (to be accessed by the long door on the outside back). I decided to put down peel and stick tile so it would be easy to clean. This is Armstrong from Lowe's. I bought it over 10 years ago and put it in my kitchen. It has held up unbelievably well for a peel and stick I think. The kitchen is our main point of entry since no one uses the front door. The rest of my house is hardwood floors, but the kitchen was just plain pine which I had wanted to sand and paint. Unfortunately, after scraping off linoleum adhesive and black tar paper for 3 weeks, I gave up and just put this stuff down.
I had used 2 pieces out of this box and put it away in case I needed to replace any tiles. Of course, looking at it now, the floor has faded enough where this would be noticeable. I think a new kitchen floor may be my next bad idea.
I had enough to cover the bottom of this bench/compartment area, the small shelf I had made where the gas furnace was located, and the bottom of the compartment where the fridge sits.
